Alpine Loop Status

The Alpine Loop is CLOSED as of 4/13/26. While portions of the loop may remain accessible, conditions vary and access can change at any time due to weather. Due to the nature of changing conditions, daily status updates will not be provided. The status will be updated to OPEN once the entire Alpine Loop is accessible.
About the Loop
The Alpine Loop Backcountry Byway is a network of four-wheel drive roads, open seasonally that connect Lake City, Ouray, and Silverton. It traverses passes up to 12,800 feet while showcasing old mines, ghost towns, natural wonders, beautiful wildflowers, and abundant wildlife.
